Dear Wendy Here in the College of Science and Engineering at The University of Edinburgh, we organise an interactive science roadshow - The SCI-FUN Scottish Science Technology Roadshow - in partnership with The Scottish Executive Education Department and Careers Scotland. We visit schools and take part in science festivals and other events for a public audience throughout Scotland (and occasionally further afield, as for example in July 2002 as part of the Tomorrow's World Roadshows). There are opportunities for students (undergraduate and postgraduate) studying within the College to become involved in events throughout the year. While this is not a recognised component of a degree course, it is a valuable means of acquiring and practising the transferable skills which are sought by all employers. Would your friend consider travelling this far North? The School of Biological Sciences offers a wide variety of courses which might appeal.
