I have been interested in the exchange of value in a typical design project between designer, manufacturer and end user. The designer owes alegance equally to the user and manufacturer in development of a successful design. Payment for a design usually passes from the user to the manufacturer and then back to the designer. Are there new models perhaps enabled by technology which would allow value to flow from the user directly to the designer? For example, the designer is paid by direct debit based on the use of the product.
