At Business Healthcare we use a Job Function assessment form. On this the referring manager would list all aspects of the persons role and the level of function relating to physical exertion, manual handling with weights and repetitions, chemical exposure, degree of cognition etc. We look at the role holistically and combine it with a functional assessment of the client and try to advise on what level they will be able to return in terms of what they are physically or mentally able to do. I am currently studying for my OH degree and for my research proposal I intend looking at how, in Occ Health, we quantify/define the term 'light duties' as this term is so frequently written on med certs for employees returning to work.
