Dear Colleagues,

As indicated by Chris (see below), the Robert Gordon University
continues to offer the distance learning option for a degree with
Specialist Practice accreditation. Some attendance is required, but
currently this is three periods of no more than 10 days in total over
the degree period (not including a Foundation Course of one week, if
this is required). The course is being restructured for re-validation
in June 2004, so the attendance requirements may change from Sep 2004.

The full list of OHN courses has already been circulated, and the OHN
team at RGU emphasise that distance learning is not an easy option, and
we always advise that prospective students should carefully consider
their situation as well as courses offered by other providers which may
be better suited to their individual needs.

Health Nursing) with Specialist practice, see

One of my nurses has just been accepted by Wolverhampton Uni to do a
degree in Occ Health this month but this is day release. She had
originally wanted a distance learning course so she has just contacted
Portsmouth after seeing this e-mail. Unfortunately they have had to to
withdraw this course because the NMC would not give Occupational
Practitioner status. They think Robert Gordon uni in Aberdeen still do
it but it means attending one week each semester.

Portsmouth Uni. do a distance learning OH degree. The final year of a 3
year programme split over 2 years. Therefore you need sufficient CAT
points to progress on to the third year (120 points if memory serves me
correct). Really good course, supportive tutors and course work that
benefits practice.

Hope this helps

Paul
