On my anaphylaxis course I was told that adrenaline alone has very limited benefit and should be accompanied with chlorpheniramine and hydrocortisone.  As a result of the course we now keep all 3 drugs and oxygen on the site where we administer travel vaccinations. I do the vaccinations when the Doctor is on the site only as recommended and therefore he is available to adminster the drugs if required.

We only take adrenaline with us when we go out to satellite sites for immunisations. We do not have O2 or defibrillators in the department for inhouse immunisations and use adrenaline only in this instance too. We would call an ambulance for backup.

Subject: Resus Protocol

We are currently in the process of implementing a resuscitation protocol for our dept,  with emphasis on equipment needed especially for outside contracts.  Does anyone take any particular resus equipment out with them for external contract work - immunisations etc.

Thanks
