We have a Back into Action programme that involves fast-track physiotherapy and active rehabilitation using Modern Pilates, Alexandra Technique etc. The aims are to :
The programme follows the recommendations in the FOMs Occupational Health Guidelines for the Management of low back pain at work.

The programme is included on the HSE's MSD website on www.hse.gov.uk/msd/experience/05.htm

We have had a really positive response from it.

Subject: posture courses for uld
Sensitivity: Private

Does anyone run or have knowledge of courses for employees with musculoskeletal symptoms ( particularly ULD) which  are holistic, encourage empowerment of the individual, promote positive coping skills and avoid medicalisation etc.? ( along the lines of a back school approach) or of any research on this. I am thinking of requesting funding to run a programme here.

I know of 2 law firms who (very successfully) refer employees presenting with musculoskeletal symptoms to an in-house "posture" course run by a physiothepaist also qualified in the Alexander technique and wonder if anyone else has any experience of this.

Best wishes
