At Burton hospital we have
a full-time Manual Handling Adviser, She's a physio by profession, and used to
be part of our department (as did the Health & Safety
Manager).
She (and H&S) is now
part of 'Governance'.
She is responsible for the
training etc of staff; although we sometimes get involved in workshops for
staff.
She is also responsible for
advising about equipment the staff need, assessing risk areas
etc.
