As I mentioned before, CRUMB does have a studentship in Curating New
Media Art coming up, but this might interest those with in the
interpretation/education areas.

available for entry in 2003/2004

eca is among the largest 4-rated UK research-led institutions in art &
design. We are offering 3 Research Studentships to undertake work
leading to an MPhil/PhD Degree in the areas of Fine Art and The Built
Environment. The projects available are:

1. Art & Architecture: contemporary practice at the interface between disciplines
An analysis and exploration of the values, methods and ideologies shared
between art and architecture, with a particular emphasis on processes
and procedures in practice and education.
School: Architecture

2. Curatorship and Education
A research theme exploring questions around contemporary curatorship,
exhibitions, interpretation, audiences, gallery architecture/design and
education, eca is seeking specific proposals in one of these areas, e.g.
the ideological implications of the museum exhibition, new models of
interpretation, etc.

3. Landscape Perception
An exploration of models for understanding spatial structure in the
landscape in terms of human experience. The programme could focus on
people’s wayfinding behaviour, assisting navigation, or the landscape
design process. This studentship relates to the existing research centre OPENspace.
School: Landscape Architecture
Supervisor: Prof. Catharine Ward Thompson ([log in to unmask])

Studentships will normally be for a period of three years, commencing in
October 2003.  They provide free tuition (value £2,870 home/EU) and an
annual stipend which is currently £7,100.
