Several post-doctoral opportunities are still open within the recently funded European training network PICNIC (see www.chem.leeds.ac.uk/PICNIC for an overview of the network. There are some restrictions, imposed by the European Union, on who is eligible for the positions see http://www.cordis.lu/improving/networks/faq.htm#q5 for details. An immediate vacancy has just become available: POST DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISANTSHIP IN Femtochemistry assisted by IMAGING Techniques Applications are invited for a post doctoral research assistantship, funded by the EU TMR Network PICNIC, in Laboratoire Francis Perrin in Saclay, France. The position, which is for 12 months with the possibility of a 12 month extension, is available immediately. The program of work focuses on the role of non-adiabatic effects in reaction dynamics exploring the pre-reactive evolution of unimolecular and bimolecular excited state reactions . The emphasis of the work is borne on photoelectron detection of the evolution of the electronic distribution in the course of the reaction dynamics. The experiments will involve (i) Femtosecond time resolved Electron and Ion velocity map imaging studies of molecules and clusters (ii) Femtosecond Pump probe experiments using VUV detection generated by Tisapphire harmonics in the 15eV domain (iii) Time domain observation of Metal molecule reactions on rare gas clusters by femtosecond pump probe methods For recent illustrations of related work see Prereactive evolution of monoalkenes in the 6eV region M.Elhanine J.M.Mestdagh J.P.Visticot B.Soep J.Chem.Phys.113,237 (2000). -Femtosecond to nanosecond relaxation time scales in electronically excited tetrakis(dimethylamino)ethylene: identification of the intermediates B.
