Roger,

        Portland stone and the Oolite series are not the same. The
Oolites (Inferior and Great) are Middle Jurassic, whereas the Portland
beds are Upper Jurassic, with the Cornbrash, Oxford Clay, Corallian,
 and Kimmeridge Clay separating them.
