I've managed to track down a copy of the Severn Valley Journal that contained the Tormarton Stonemine article. The reference is in Severn Valley CC Journal (they also produced a newsletter), Vol 1 (2) for 1964-5, pp10-13. It is written by P. Allen according to the contents page; there is no author credit on the article pages. P13 is a sketch map of the areas showing where the mines are The article refers to a trrip early in 1964 by the author and Brian Roach along with Tony & Anne Oldham. I don't know if Tony remembers it (it was along time ago) The references at the end include two newsletter articles. I don't know yet whether the newsletters are still accessible somewhere but I will try to locate them (I expect they are just the trip reports for the visits and do not contain any more information than the journal article - but it would be good to find them) ----- Original Message ----- From: "D.R.Poyner" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2003 3:06 PM Subject: [MINING-HISTORY] Journal of the Severn Valley Caving Club Can anyone help this chap with his request? I assume he wants to know where he can find the journal. He got the reference from the stone quarrying bibliography. > David Poyner > > >Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 12:07:35 +0000 > >From: "Tim Ho" <[log in to unmask]> > > >Subject: enquiry for reference > > > >Dear Sir/Madam, > > I have searched a refernce named 'Anon 1964-65 The stone mines of > >Tormarton, South Gloucestershire.
