At the moment I am trawling the internet in search of references to surviving stationary and marine steam engines in Europe. Of particular interest at the moment is France or any references to mining sites, anywhere, where there are complete or partial remains of steam engines. I have identified a variety of engines here and there but suspect there must be more. They range from very small machines to a number of surprises, including a twin beam blowing engine, a large winding engine and a Cornish beam engine with a 90" cylinder. Can anyone on this list advise of anything they might be aware of? Equally useful will be e-mail addresses for anyone, UK or overseas, who might be able to help. In France I have sent a number of e-mails, often written in French, but usually without anykind of response.
