CURATOR OF MEDICINE

This is a unique opportunity to take responsibility for one of the most
exciting and significant collections in the world today, the magnificent
array of objects and artefacts representing the history of medicine from
1700 to the present day in the Wellcome and Science Museum collections.
Dedicated to creating a dialogue about the past, present and future, you
will lead the way in developing 'story-led' exhibitions, web products and
publications that engage our visitors and pose new questions as well as
answering old ones. 

This role demands extensive knowledge, vision and a real commitment to
finding innovative ways to engage diverse audiences with medicine, material
culture and history. Applications are welcome from candidates with an
academic background in the history of medicine or other relevant subject.
Experience of working with objects and collections or within the museum
sector would be beneficial. 

To be successful in this post applicants will need to demonstrate well
developed communication skills for a variety of audiences, including writing
skills, awareness of new media and the capacity to present on TV / Radio. 

The Science Museum is a member of the National Museum of Science and
Industry (NMSI) and is devoted to the history and contemporary practice of
science, technology, industry and medicine.  The Science Museum is seeking
