Dealing with Diversity
An increasing range of students has made it necessary to introduce services to meet very differing needs. The introduction of the Special Educational Needs Disability Act, 2001 (SENDA) has also put increased pressure on libraries to ensure the service is accessible to all. This full day event aims to offer advice and inspiration for dealing with a diverse user population, combining presentations and real experiences with opportunities for group discussion in order to share practice.
The event will be held at Aston University Library in Birmingham on Friday 16th May, from 10am - 3.30pm. The costs including lunch and refreshments and inclusive of VAT are as follows:

1.20 - 1.40 Cost-benefit of disability equipment - Amanda Poulton, Aston University
1.40 - 2.10 Practical experiences of dealing with diversity
Issues to consider identified by local practitioners.
2.10 - 2.50 Workshops including refreshments
Workshops sharing experiences and strategies for dealing with:
visual impairments, physical disabilities, dyslexia, hearing impairments and distancelearners.
2.50 - 3.30 Plenary
