MOVING ON IN MARC 21: COMPUTER AND WEB RESOURCES
13 JANUARY 2004, LONDON (AFTERNOON ONLY)
 
This half-day workshop focuses on the bibliographic description of computer and web resources. Its purpose is to develop greater depth of knowledge by exploring the AACR2 elements of the topic alongside the MARC format requirements. 

Firstly the specific AACR2 rules that relate to the format will be considered. The second part will introduce the appropriate MARC 21 tags for the AACR2 distinctions and will then consider the extra elements that the MARC 21 format allows.

Participants will gain an integrated understanding of this specialist area of work in the MARC 21 format.

Throughout the workshop the difference between what the formats allow and what is appropriate for a particular organisation to include will be clearly highlighted.

Anyone who wishes to gain an integrated understanding of the bibliographic description of computer and web resources in the MARC 21 format.

SPECIAL NOTES:
Participants will need to have a basic understanding of MARC 21 format and terminology, and some experience of AACR2.

Keith is a part time Senior Lecturer at Liverpool Business School and freelance trainer. Keith regards all learning/training situations as opportunities to play with and explore ideas and techniques.
