Permanent Job Vacancy-GIS Data Technician-(MSc Graduate considered)
Location-Northern England
Salary to £20,000 plus benefits



You will use GIS software daily, mainly MapInfo and will gain a thorough 
understanding of a number of other GIS products and packages, along with extensive 
knowledge of programming within a GIS-macro environment, mainly MapBasic. You 
should have experience in both Access and SQL, to create and update products. 
You will also be working with a number of commercial datasets, such as 
Census, Media (BARB, ISBA, STD codes, BBC radio and Newspapers), Business (Dun and 
Bradstreet and Yell), geodemographic (PRIZM and Acorn) and mapping (Tele Atlas 
and Ordnance Survey) datasets.

Of equal importance to the technology is the aptitude of the person 
appointed.  The job requires reliability, eye for detail, personal organisation and 
initiative.  The end product of your efforts will be perhaps a highly accurate, 
seamless map database, an innovatively crafted multi-layer GIS or even a simple 
thematic map.

Your skills should lie in how different datasets are integrated to form a 
coherent product.

The job has variety too, because you will become involved in support 
consultancy for your products as well as liaison with different data source providers.
