Hi there,

I have been following your messages. i teach at a communication Institute in India, with specialisation in International law. My ph.d is connected to biodiversity and iprs, where as I am engaged with religious and other groups working on gender and human rights. In communication, I have written and taught on representation of women in films, tv,media monitoring and human development, etc. I have consulted for a gender and media project- ANWIC, of WACC in India.

If my trip is sponsored, I do not mind viewing 2 Indian films - Bandit Queen and Chandni Bar (on barmaids in India), with perspectives on feminist aesthetics, the dynamic of violence in the media and the 'killing' of women's self to intersperse with it.

Do get back to me if this is fit.

Regards, Shashi

Dear list,
I am forwarding you another piece of personally depressing reading where on the subject of creativity not one senior woman has been found to speak to the subject - perhaps anyone with a paper which is in some shape to get presented at such a colloquium might like to get in touch with the colloquium facilitator.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the nature of human creativity?
How is it related to the doctrine of God as Creator?
What does it mean to exercise creativity responsibly in our dealings with the world?

The colloquium will explore the relationship between the poetic and the heuristic, testing the claim made by Paul Ricoeur and George Steiner (among others) that in our complex symbolic engagements with the human world we Œinvent¹ in both senses of the word. Our approach will be deliberately inter-disciplinary -- drawing upon biblical, philosophical, theological, scientific, ethical & aesthetic perspectives -- to inform what will nonetheless be an unashamedly theological engagement with our theme.

In addition to papers and discussion, the colloquium will include evening receptions, a guided exhibition viewing and a musical performance.

Registration:    £40; £20 for students
