But the other people that will apply for the job and will have relevant experience, will be those that have done an MA in Museums Studies.  Who will therefore have spent just as much time and money in further education as teachers.

As a qualified teacher with over four years teaching experience (all ks) and over a years experience working in a museum this post sounds ideal for me, however i took one look at the salary and disregarded it.
I could earn more doing supply teaching or even freelancing. 
However to be fair they are not asking for a qualified teacher!
unqualified teachers earn less so this would be the going rate if you were not qualified but had teaching experience
