Doing the math, it comes out to a little over 27 pounds an hour, or roughly 40 U.S. dollars an hour. I'm not sure how much teachers are paid in England but this is certainly more than all but the most experienced teachers are earning here in America. It's easy to look at the annual salary and think that this is a low paying position, but after doing a bit of math one can see it's quite generous.
