Hello folks, NKOS, the Network of Knowledge Organisation Systems, which has been mentioned several time before on this list recently held a conference in Seattle, which addressed several themes related to the interests of this list. These include the relationship between traditional thesauri and the richer language of ontologies, the need for development of standards for thesauri to meet modern techniology, and the practical implications of making thesauri more widely used via the web (such as INSCRIPTION style registers). Many of the presentations are available via the links below as PowerPoint files, and I'd recommend them as a view into the future, Ed -----Original Message----- From: Marcia Lei Zeng [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: 18 October 2003 19:14 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Activities to advance the powerful use of vocabularies in the digital environment - Structured overview At the DC2003 Conference held in Seattle from Sept. 28 - Oct. 2, there was a special session on Metadata Value Spaces.
