Re Booklooking.
The first two acts of Adaptation show a reader's engagement with a novel.  His reading is interrupted by his own life and relationships.  Scenes revolve around Charlie reading over time in a variety of places, at the table, the cafe, in bed.  He shuts the book to ruminate on an evocative passage, watch it play out in his head, or commune with the author through her picture on the book jacket.  The third act is the movie that Charlie the hollywood screenwriter writes, but in the first two acts we see Charlie the anonymous reader, living vicariously, finding meaning and pleasure in response to the novel.
