This
is a tardy reply ... but I would like to ask what you mean by "made problematic
by its child actors"?
Two of
my favorite films featuring child protagonists:
(1953)
Little Fugitive - Amjerican
(1993)
The Secret Garden - American studio, European actors and director (so perhaps
doesn't count)
. And to the peculiar representation of children
in Hollywood. We could not think of a US film that was not made problematic by
its child actors. Is this a children's culture thing, a Hollywood
representation of children thing, a child acting conventions thing or
what? Or were we forgetting some films?
3 favorites my friend and I shared were SPIRIT OF
THE BEEHIVE, WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND, & WHITE BALLOON.
