The ALPHAVILLE example gets even better, when one considers Constantine as Lemmy back again in Godard's excellent and little-seen GERMANY NINE ZERO (1991). Jacques Demy's films are a special case: characters migrate from one film to another - for example, Anouk Aimee is Lola in THE MODEL SHOP, but that film is in no strict sense a sequel to LOLA. There must be other examples like this in world cinema. The Antoine Doinel/Truffaut case is surely a conventional set of sequels, a la INDIANA JONES!!
