I'm looking for something that can be laid in parallel to the discussions of the good old Homer's Odyssey. Not necessarily a sea voyage that I'm seeking. In fact, the less aparent the link between the film and Homer's text, the better . I just want to convey the issues of home, jorney, identity and strangeness out to a dissimilar context. >> Ayse, try the Canadian film adaptation of the novel by Rohinton Mistry, "A Long Day's Journey into Night". I highly recommend the films of Theos Angelopoulos, which deal a lot with the links between identity, journey, and strangeness, especially "Landscape in the Mist"(a film about a boy searching for his father), "Ulysses' Gaze"(a Balkan director collecting strips of films about Balkan women's weaving habits and such), and "Eternity and a Day"(a man's coping with the fact he has to die within one day through a strange journey). In a way, even Ingmar Bergman's "Wild Strawberries" about its protagonist( a disgruntled old man who suffers an estranged relationship with his son and daughter-in-law) who undertakes a journey to the countryside to visit the places which shaped his temperament, also fits into the bill of what you are looking for. Hope this helps you. Kevin
