Perhaps John Boorman's film, -Beyond Rangoon-, about a doctor who goes to Burma for a holiday after the death of her husband and son, and ends up staying. It's about a woman trying to find a sense of purpose in life after she felt there was no need to go on. It's not so much an action film, but there is a lot of action in it.
