Tom Ripley from Highsmith's Ripley novels. Haven't seen John Malkovitch in the recent Ripley's Game but Matt Damon in 'The Talented Mr Ripley' captures something of the character of the novel, and the readers/spectator's desire for him to succeed. Melanie
