I always liked Paul Schrader's MISHIMA.  The main reason is because
at the time Mishima's widow would not allow certain subjects to come
to light. For instance, his politics, his homosexuality, and his
suicide.  So Shrader had to go through his writings and based the
film on those writings.  It is one of the best films about a writer.
