eLearning: Commission launches website for information and exchange
(04/02/03)
"Learntec 2003", the international trade fair in Karlsruhe opened today by
Viviane Reding, Member of the European Commission responsible for Education
and Culture, provided an opportunity for the European Commission to launch
its website on <a href="http://www.elearningeuropa.info/">eLearning</a>:
This portal will provide not only information on Community initiatives in
this field, such as the eLearning programme (2004-2006) which is currently
being adopted, but also links with national initiatives, both public and
private, and contributions from experts on subjects ranging from "eLiteracy"
to the situation in the candidate countries.

SIFKAL Workshop 'legal and pedagogical aspects of a Safer Internet'
Wagner Building, Kirchberg, Luxembourg
This workshop intends to support the safer Internet activities at this
crucial time of action, and to feed concrete results from the action plan
into the new generation projects. There is a lot of new research available -
surveys results coming out of the final deliverables, which need to be
discussed and circulated among all stakeholders in the safer Internet
framework.

Workshop 'Quality labels for Websites'
Wagner Building, Kirchberg, Luxembourg
The agenda of the workshop will include a discussion of existing quality
labels and trustmarks in the field of e-commerce. Commission initiatives
such as the Communication on Quality Criteria for Health related Websites
will be presented. Comparisons will be drawn with ways of indicating content
suitable for children, including self-rating, third-party rating and use of
domain names for child-friendly content such as the new .kids.us domain.
