Gay People in
Prison
A NATIONAL
CONFERENCE
WEDNESDAY 31ST MARCH
2004
LONDON
Despite
recent advances in the campaign for 'gay rights', gay people in prison still
face problems on a daily basis.
This national conference, the first in
the UK considering policy and practice relating to gay people in prison, will
hear from a range of distinguished speakers from the statutory and voluntary
sectors, and from ex-prisoners - those with a very real personal
experience.
Issues for discussion will include the Human Rights Act,
sexual activity in prison, HIV and AIDS, and managing gay people in the prison
population.
The conference will be of interest to prison governors and
staff, probation officers, academics and students, campaigners from the prison
reform and gay rights sectors, and individuals.
