Hi Mark, Issue 2, "undeploying a test", is a known bug with version 6. Not ideal! Spencer -----Original Message----- From: Mark Northover [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: 13 March 2003 03:45 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Virtual Chat and Assessments Dear Bb List, There are two issues in version 6 I would like help with if anybody has words of wisdom. We are currently running version 6.0.6 Learning System on UNIX boxes. 1 We are having performance problems running Virtual Chat (ie Lightweight Chat) for students across the country. The system starts OK, but after a period of time (say 20 minutes) it seems to grind to a halt - users cannot log on to Chat, or get no new messages appearing. In our testing in a local environment we have problems with our Macs. It will only run stably on a very recent machine with OSX.2, but not in previous systems (OSX.1 or 9.2), despite the Blackboard configuration grid confirming that it should. I'm not sure whether the Mac variable is a red herring or not, as it could be our server setup, firewalls, etc. Has anyone done any testing on using the Chat function on various setups, and can suggest what our problems might stem from? 2 I haven't read about his in any of the 'Known Issues' documents from Bb, but I cannot find a way to 'undeploy' a test. Once deployed, a test only has an option for making the link not visible, but it is still deployed in the original area, and therefore cannot be deployed anywhere else. I have tried creating another test by importing the questions from the initial test, which seems to work well, until I then try to deploy it. Deploying the new test then causes an error message implying that the item cannot be found. Are there bugs here, or am I missing something simple? Appreciate any light anyone can shed on wither of these issues. Mark Northover UNITEC NZ
