*****ESDS Awareness Day****

5 December 2003
Royal Statistical Society, London.
Organised by the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS).

This half-day event, organised by the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS), will provide an overview of ESDS services. Participants will learn about: social science data resources and support; using the ESDS online data access systems (registration, resource discovery, data download); and the Nesstar and Beyond 20/20 interactive online systems. There will also be the opportunity to watch demonstrations and ask questions of staff from each of the four specialist data support services: ESDS Government; ESDS International; ESDS Longitudinal; and ESDS Qualidata.

The event is targeted towards social science support staff, such as subject or data librarians, whose roles are to help researchers, teachers and students gain access to data or to support data analysis. ESDS is currently establishing a network of local representatives or champions, and this event will provide both an opportunity for new representatives to learn more about ESDS and for other participants to sign up to take on this role for their own institutions. ESDS is also planning to run other awareness and training days of this nature in regional locations.

The workshop is free but places are limited. For further details, including programme and booking form, please see: http://www.esds.ac.uk/news/esdsawareness.asp
