ARCHIVIST, FORENSIC MEDICINE ARCHIVES PROJECT
(6 months, secondments and part-time working options will be
considered)

£18,265- £24,121 PRO RATA

JOB DESCRIPTION

REF 732/02

JOB PURPOSE

The remit of the post holder will be to undertake the cataloguing of
archives of Forensic Medicine in Glasgow, ensuring that planning and
reporting are carried out as
agreed in the project plan. A Researcher with an expert knowledge of
the history of medicine will work alongside the Archivist to deliver this
Project. The Project is
funded by the British Library and the Wellcome Trust Research
Resources in Medical History programme.


KEY TASKS

· Cataloguing the archives relating to Forensic Medicine within Glasgow
and particularly the Glaister papers onto an XML authoring tool using
the EAD DTD
· Drafting an access policy to ensure the archives, and the catalogue,
are accessed appropriately for academic research while ensuring
compliance with Data Protection and other legislation
· Surveying the materials currently being created in the University's
Department of Forensic Medicine and making recommendations for
their retention and archive disposal
· Assisting with the dissemination of publicity materials for the Project
