Our previously established Equality Challenge Group has been
superseded by a new Equality Committee as follows:

The institution has established an Equality Committee.   The
Committeehas a general responsibility for the promotion of
equalopportunities at UCW, and keeping under review the
policyand associated action to promote equality of
opportunityand treatment on the basis of age, disability
gender,religion, race and sexual orientation.
The Committee is charged with ensuring compliance with
prevailingUK law, including the RRAA.

The membership of the Committee is:-

The Principal, as Chair
A member of the Board of Governors
The Registrar
Head of Equal Opportunities  Centre
The Head of Personnel
A nominee of the Students Union – Equality of Opportunity
group
A nominee of the Students Union representing International
Students
A representative of the College International Office
A nominee from the trade union side of the Joint
Consultative Committee
Two members of the academic staff (to be elected by ballot
of all academic staff)
Two members of the support staff (to be elected by ballot of
all support staff)
A member of the Planning and Information Unit in attendance
Representatives of the local Race Equality Council and
Commission for Racial Equality will be invited to attend for
specific items.

The Committee has a number of specific terms of
    rreference arising out of the RRAA:-

To keep under review the Race Equality Policy (REP)
statement
To develop an Action Plan, identifying actions, timescales
and performance measures and to keep the Plan under
review
To communicate, review, publish and disseminate
monitoring data relating to the REP in order to identify future
action.
