RE: Test requests

Our test : specimen will have doubled (from about 4.5 to 9) over the past decade.  Much of this will be due to the way we organise the work flow.  We used to require a specimen for U&E, lft etc and a second one for thyroid etc.  Now we pass the one vacutainer from the Modular to the E170 and, provided the specimen is received within an hour of collection, we don't ask for a separate fluoride specimen for glucose.

Subject: Test requests

Can anybody give me information on the patient/test
request ratio in clinical biochemistry and is it
increasing or decreasing?
Thanks
David Brown
