We are in the process of reviewing the test codes we use in our LIMS system
as a result of the merger of two acute units into a single trust. Do any of
you know of a standard coding system that is alphabet based and intuitive to
use. Coding systems like LOINC are numerically based and totally unsuitable
to be used at order entry. I guess there are many of us that would like to
know the answer to this question as pathology networks begin to take shape.

Many thanks
John O'Connor
