Troponin T upper reference limit
Ian,

We use 0.03. However, we still quote 0.03 - 0.1 as consistent with "minimal myocardial damage" and > 0.1 as consistent with myocardial infarction. Our cardiologists and physicians did not want us to lower the limit for MI, as the diagnosis of the condition would significantly increase and they are often at a loss as to what to do with these patients and reluctant to label them as MI. This is despite my best attempts to present the evidence to them.

On another issue we recently looked at our 75 haemodialysis patients and found 52% of them had troponin T values > 0.03 and 13% > 0.1

Best wishes

Peter

Subject: Troponin T upper reference limit

Dear colleagues.

To all Troponin T users out there (and expert cardiologists!).

What are you all using as the upper reference limit for the Trop T assay?

Do you use 0.01 - which is the figure quoted by Roche as being their 99th percentile?  Or do you use 0.03 ( which is the concentration, according to Roche, where 10% CV is achieved)? Or are you using something else?

Look forward to hearing from you.

I apologise if this is "old business".
