The x-change: Volunteers needed!

The BA require five student volunteers interested in Science Communication to join the x-change team at this year's BA Festival of Science at the University of Salford, 8-12 September.

The x-change takes place every evening to review 'the best of the fest' in an informal setting. Speakers discuss their talks with the audience and comment on other sessions at the festival.

Working alongside Quentin Cooper of BBC Radio's Material World, you will visit sessions at the Festival to help select a panel of speakers for the x-change from the most exciting, controversial and stimulating stories of the day.

You will need a flair for spotting hot topics and charismatic speakers in order to arrange an interesting and varied programme each evening. You must be able to work well under pressure, be preared to take on a number of different tasks and have confidence to approach potential speakers. You will also help publicise the event by producing marketing materials and updates throughout the week. In return you will gain invaluable experience of working within an event coordination team.

The x-change will run from 17.30-19.00 Monday to Thursday, however volunteers will be required to be in Salford from the Sunday afternoon.

Entry to the Festival, accommodation and travel expenses will be paid.

If you are interested, please send your CV and a covering letter to [log in to unmask] by 27 June 2003.
