The Transport Select Committee of the House of Commons has recently announced the terms of reference for an inquiry into "Cars of the Future" which can be found at: http://www.parliament.uk/parliamentary_committees/transport_committee/trans1 60703.cfm This provides an opportunity for many of the leading UK and European research and industrial groups working on clean vehicle technology, vehicle control technology and new ways in which we might own and use vehicles to contribute to this issue. The Committee is also interested in the social, administrative and legislative aspects of new technology. I hope that as many groups as possible will feel able to contribute. For those not familiar with the process of submission of memoranda to Select Committee inquiries, the guideline is 6 pages (which will be published by the Committee as evidence). Further technical information or glossies etc. can be sent and will be used as background for the Committee. The deadline for submission is 20 October.
