It seems amazing to me that some of the universities that are trying to promote themselves the most seem to have the smallest and most ineffectual PR departments, especially among the science departments! I appreciate that money is always an issue, but very few departments seem to have any idea of the adage, spend money to make money! Those who have good PR departments/people such as Hull, seem to have money flowing in from all directions, and one can't help but think that this must be at least partly down to their PR.
