A Google search under "coat of arms mining" identifies quite a few examples (More than a tub full) from around the world. Ranging from a Sulzburg 1283 depiction of a silver miner carrying a torch through to modern times, it seems that many if not most of the worlds mining regions have elected the use of mining symbols on their coat of arms.
