Thanks for this Gary. We've been using Impatica for PowerPoint for a while and it's pretty useful, albeit there's an occasional glitch / hiccup for which we've had to seek help from Impatica's tech folks. I think we've discussed PowerPoint to HTML conversion before, around March of this year, but for anyone new to this, here's what we do: 1. Create a new folder 2. Put your new PowerPoint file into the folder. 3. Open the new PowerPoint then click to "save as" a web page. 4. Click on "Publish" 5. Click to open "Web Options" then set these so that you have browser colors (General tab), files organised into one folder with links updated (File tab)and pictures set to 800x600. You might also want check that IE4 and upwards can see it (Browsers tab). 6. Now click "Publish", et voila! To upload to BB: 1. Zip together the html file and the folder with your converted pages. 2. Upload your site, remembering to ask BB to "unpackage this file". So far this has worked fine for us, making PPT presentations available to our financially challenged students. Do you think Microsoft will give me a discount /commission too? The fix described in the knowledge base is aimed at those running the server on a Microsoft platform. Something similar works for a Unix box. The fix is to find the perl module ContentFileTools.pm, and edit the line that starts my @exts_video (about line 22), using a text editor, eg. vi in Unix or Notepad in Windows. You just have to add the extensions ppt, pps and possibly doc to the line. Line 22 before modifications: my @exts_video = qw(avi mpg mpeg mpe qt mov moov wma asf); Line 22 after modifications: my @exts_video = qw(avi mpg mpeg mpe qt mov moov wma asf ppt pps doc); If you need any more details Kathy, you can email me. ________________________________________________ David Crowe Senior Systems Developer The Library University of East Anglia Norwich Phone 44 (0)1603 593501 Mobile 0770 2055 958 -----Original Message----- From: Kathy Boyer [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: 08 October 2003 16:59 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Powerpoint in Blackboard We are having great difficulty in getting powerpoint presentations to work in Bb if they have been saved as web pages.
