------- Forwarded message follows ------- From: "Reed, Susan" <[log in to unmask]> For the first time, images of BL bookbindings are available on the internet at http://www.bl.uk/catalogues/bookbindings Over 2,800 items have been scanned at high quality and recorded in an easy-to-use online database. The system is a slightly restricted version of the one currently available in the BL's Rare Books & Music Reading Room. The project began with bookbindings on English printed books from the late fifteenth century to modern times but now western European printed books are being included. The site is a work in progress. It is constantly updated with new images but not every record is complete; this will be rectified as resources allow. It is hoped that this site, which includes links to other relevant sources, will develop into a centre for bindings information in general.
