Dear all CALL FOR PAPERS: Contested Geographies of Race and Religion A two session module at the Royal Geographical Society-Institute of British Geographers Conference, London, 3-5th September, 2003 Two sessions will address the interplay of racialised and religious discourse and identities. Papers are encouraged from a variety of spatial and empirical perspectives that highlight the interconnecting or competing influences of race and religion for individuals, groups and states. Within this context issues might include gender and generation, expressions of sexuality and forms of community association. It is hoped that one session might concentrate on issues specific to Islam and contemporary societies. Presentations from practitioners and academics are particularly welcome. It is the intention of the organisers to bring together both established academics and postgraduate researchers within the module. Organisers: Peter Hopkins and David Howard, University of Edinburgh Those interested are asked to send a short abstract to Peter Hopkins ([log in to unmask]) by Friday, 14th February, 2003 Geography, University of Edinburgh, Drummond Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9XP
