italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Research Council invites suitably qualified women and men to apply for
the following research opportunities in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Law
and Business Studies. In each case, Terms and Conditions apply.

- Post-Graduate Scholarships:
Applicants must be nationals of a member country of the European Union. They
should already be, or will be during the academic year 2003/2004, registered
in a recognised third-level institution in the Republic of Ireland as
full-time post-graduate research students pursuing degrees by major thesis.
Those who are undertaking taught programmes, or degrees where a thesis is a
minor part of the programme, are not eligible. Scholarships are valued at up
to Euro12,700 per annum. They will be awarded initially for one year, but
subject to terms and conditions, renewable for up to two additional years.
Fees will also be covered for the period of the Scholarship. The closing
date for the receipt of applications is Monday, 3 March 2003. Suitably
qualified graduates interested in pursuing a research degree in Italian at
University College Cork should contact the Postgraduate Co-ordinator, Dr
Silvia Ross, or the Head of Department, Prof. Eduardo Saccone, well in
advance of the deadline for scholarship applications. Further information

- Post-Doctoral Fellowships:
Applicants should be, or expect to be affiliated with a recognised
third-level institution in the Republic of Ireland during the academic year
2003/2004. Permanent members of staff in third-level institutions are not
eligible. The Fellowships are valued at up to Euro31,745 per annum. This
Scheme is open to applicants of any nationality. The closing date for the
receipt of applications is Monday, 13 January 2003. Suitably qualified
candidates interested in pursuing post-doctoral research in Italian at
University College Cork should contact the Head of Department, Prof. Eduardo
Saccone, well in advance of the deadline for scholarship applications.
