*** Apologies for any cross posting *** SHERPa - The New Social & Health Electronic Resources Portal is Launched www.sherpa.nhs.uk A brand new locally produced health information resources website - the Social and Health Electronic Resources Portal (SHERPa) - is now available to all Northern Lincolnshire healthcare staff. SHERPa is the online gateway to quality healthcare (and ultimately social care) information, resources and physical library services in Northern Lincolnshire. It can be used by anyone, although some services are obviously only available to Northern Lincolnshire staff. SHERPa was developed jointly by the health libraries in Northern Lincolnshire as part of the 'Strategic Plan for South Humber Health Library and Knowledge Management Services'. The vision is to facilitate research, professional development and effective, modern clinical practice by creating a Service that provides seamless, free access for all health and social care staff across the Community and is available at any time. The SHERPa site is a gateway leading to quality online information resources. SHERPa currently has links to 25 high quality medical and healthcare databases and over 600 health and social care quality websites - all of which can be searched for free. The site also gives details of local health library services, journal listings for each, holds all the forms required for applying for Athens access and ILL requesting and offers details of information skills and IT training available to Northern Lincolnshire staff alongside online training and guidance materials. SHERPa can be accessed from the workplace, home or place of study (anywhere an internet connection is available) at www.sherpa.nhs.uk It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
