As far as I know this is to do with setting appropriate prices across a
range  - so for coke...small can. Can, small bottle, large bottle, giant
bottle - prices need to be in order so as not to discourage purchases of the
most profitable sizes...i.e maximise profits across the range not just a
particular package size. This can also be interpreted as a range of products
i.e coca-cola sells sprite, orange juice, diet coke etc. -
