Workshop at the 23rd International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems
(ICDCS 2003), May 19-22, 2003, Providence, Rhode Island USA

Over the last several years, we have seen the rapid evolution in smart
appliances
and devices, as well as personal and wearable computers. In addition,
collaborative computing technologies based on these devices facilitates a wealth
of new prospective applications. Such applications require enabling software and
hardware technologies like new kinds of embedded devices, networks,
infrastructure, software architectures and models. This workshop offers the
opportunity for in-depth exploration of selected topics and for the presentation
of the most recent research and development findings in these rapidly changing
fields.

TOPICS
. Enabling Technologies for Appliance, Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing
. Infrastructure for Ubiquitous Computing
. Home and Office Appliances
. Portable Devices and Smart Sensors
. Wireless-phone Computing
. Home Networks and Wearable Networks
. Security and Privacy Aspects for Appliances
. Wearable Computers and PDAs
. Software Architecture for Home/Smart Appliances
. Location-dependent and context-aware Computing
