If you are interested in making e-learning accessible you may like to attend the CETIS (Centre for Educational Technology Standards) - TechDis Accessibility Special Interest Group Meeting. Details are included below.

Vashti Zarach,
Assistant Accessibility SIG Co-ordinator.

Invitation to Attend the CETIS-TechDis Accessibility SIG First Partnership Meeting

You are cordially invited to attend the first CETIS-TechDis Accessibility Special Interest Group (SIG) Partnership Meeting. The aim of this meeting is to introduce the new IMS Accessibility Guidelines for Developing Accessible Learning Applications (Version 1.0) and to give examples of their use.

The agenda will include:
1. A demonstration by Can Studios Limited (see http://www.the-can.com/) of their learning software which has implemented the IMS Specifications.
2. An overview of the new IMS Accessibility Guidelines and examples of their use.
3. Guided Discussion Session on making e-learning accessible.
4. Presentation about interoperability and accessibility (details to be confirmed).
The meeting will take place on Tuesday 22nd October 2002 at the University of Salford in Manchester (see http://www.salford.ac.uk/travel for location details), commencing at 10.30 and finishing at approximately 3.45 pm.

Accessibility issues are of importance to all those involved in developing learning technology or creating content for it. The SIG, which was formally launched in May of this year, focuses on creation and implementation (i.e. on content authors and on developers) rather than on the users themselves and is open to anyone interested in interoperability standards and accessibility.

There will be no charge for attending the Partnership Meeting and lunch will be provided. If you would like to attend, please register at http://www.cetis.ac.uk/members/accessibility/index. Please note that space is limited to 50 people.

If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
