medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Call for Papers:

Conference Theme: "Texts and Commentaries"
Ilinois Medieval Association, Feb 21-22, 2003
DePaul University, Chicago IL
Plenary Speaker: Alastair Minnis, The Ohio State University
Deadline Extended: 1 October, 2003

We invite 200-word proposals or panels on all aspects of the relationships
between texts and commentaries in the Middle Ages. Some topics might
include: text and commentary as social exchange, the body as text and/or
commentary, gender and text/commentary, and text/commentary as material
culture. Transhistorical analyses (medievalism as text/commentary, pedagogy
as text/commentary) and interdisciplinary investigations (the arts as
text/commentary) are also welcome.
