Student Paper Competition
Sponsored by the Disability Specialty Group Student of the Association of American Geographers (AAG)

Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit papers relevant to issues in geography and disability for the Disability Specialty Group Student Paper Award 2003.  In an effort to encourage student participation, the eligibility criteria for the competition are as follows:
-Papers that have been presented at any conference in 2002 (including the annual meeting in
Los Angeles), and/or any papers presented in 2003 (up to and including the annual meeting in
       New Orleans) are eligible.
-Papers with a geographic focus presented at non-geography conferences are also welcome.
     - Students do not have to be a current member of the Disability Specialty Group or necessarily
have to attend planning to attend the AAG conference, March 2003 in New Orleans.

The goals of the award are to recognize outstanding papers that students have presented at conferences and encourage student participation.  The successful student will receive a prize and a year's membership to the Disability Specialty Group.

Process:
The paper should be 15 to 20 pages in length, including all notes and figures.  A cover letter should accompany all entries and contain the student’s and all other authors’ names, academic affiliation, faculty advisor for the paper, mailing address, e-mail address and phone number.  We prefer that students send the paper as an attachment using e-mail. If this is not feasible, students should submit 3 hard copies.

The above materials must be e-mailed or postmarked by February 29, 2003 to

Todd Reynolds
500 East Lindsey St., Apt A
Norman, OK 73069
e-mail: [log in to unmask]

Results of the competition will be announced after the AAG annual meeting in New Orleans to allow students preparing papers for the annual meeting to enter them into the competition.  Students will be notified by March 24, 2003 about the competition results.
